Beginning Journey to Health and Wellness
My journey to Health and Wellness began in November of 2011 when I moved from New Jersey to Ohio. Back then I weighed 360 Lbs and walked with a cane. Having been diagnosed with Relapse-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis, I was very sick physically, mentally and spiritually. I joined the East Butler YMCA the week after I arrived in Ohio. I made the decision to get myself back on the road to being healthy and fit. I started taking Water Wellness classes and soon was able move to the Fitness Center where I continued to strive to better myself. Within the two and half year I have been at the Y. I have lost 130 lbs and have maintained that weight loss.
The one question people always ask me when I tell my story is “Why Ohio?” and the answer to that “God sent me here”. He has blessed me with his grace and renewed my faith in him and myself. Along the way I met some amazing people who have helped me along my journey. Soon the people at the Y not only became my friends but I consider them my family, So much so that I now work in the Fitness Center at the East Butler YMCA. I was given a great gift and now want to share my journey with others. So that I can show whoever is struggling that it is possible and it can be done, that they are not alone. With discipline, commitment and will power you can overcome any obstacle. I found that at the YMCA where anything and everything is possible.
